WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOUR PET STAYS HOSPITALIZED

Our team of experienced veterinarians, technicians, and administrative staff work together to provide the highest quality care to every animal that walks through our doors. We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of veterinary medicine, utilizing the latest technologies and techniques to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

TREATMENT PLANS AND ESTIMATES

Before your pet is hospitalized, one of our veterinarians will prepare and explain a detailed treatment plan and estimate for all charges associated with your pet’s care. We are committed to working within what has been discussed and will contact you regularly for financial updates and to obtain additional consents when necessary.

UPDATES

You will receive a phone call from one of our veterinarians in the emergency and critical care unit with a full medical report once or twice a day. These updates will occur after medical rounds, and once the incoming veterinarian has assessed their patients for their shift. Please note that our veterinarians and technicians will be performing medical rounds between 8-9 AM and 8-9 PM and will not be able to take phone calls during these times. If new relevant information arises or major changes in your pet’s health occur, a veterinarian will contact you as soon as possible. Our support staff may also reach out with pertinent updates. You are welcome to call the hospital for information about your pet’s health and progress. While our veterinarians may not always be immediately available, we will do our best to return your call promptly.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS

We provide cozy blankets, towels, and beds to keep your pet warm and comfortable during their stay. For this reason, we encourage you to leave personal belongings at home. If you choose to leave a special toy or blanket, please understand that it may not always be returned. Our hospital prioritizes cleanliness and tidiness, and we clean thoroughly several times a day, which can make tracking personal items challenging. If your pet is on a special diet, you are welcome to bring their food. However, we kindly ask that you avoid raw food due to potential disease transmission, especially to immunocompromised patients. You are welcome to visit your pet during their stay. Visits should be coordinated with a staff member and are typically limited to 15-20 minutes. We will do our best to provide a room for your visit, but availability depends on hospital flow and whether it is appropriate to move your pet from the intensive care unit. While visiting can be crucial for some pets’ recovery, in other cases it may disrupt their acclimation process or increase stress levels. Our veterinarians will advise you on what is best for your pet. If visits are not advisable, we are happy to send pictures or arrange a video call so you can see your pet’s progress in real time. Please note that we cannot facilitate visits during rounds and shift changes, which occur between 7–9 a.m. and 7–9 p.m.
