Program Details

Veterinary Assistant & Veterinary Technician Co-op Placements

At Capital City, we are proud to support students completing their veterinary assistant or veterinary technician diploma program by offering co-op placements at our hospital. Throughout their placement, students gain hands-on experience by rotating through various departments, allowing them to develop professional skills and deepen their understanding of their coursework. These real-world experiences provide invaluable knowledge that cannot be fully learned in the classroom. To ensure each student receives meaningful mentorship and training, space is limited.

High School Co-op Placements

Capital City welcomes high school students interested in a career in veterinary medicine to complete their co-op placements at our hospital. Students are given a daily checklist of tasks that contribute to the hospital’s daily operations while also having the opportunity to work alongside different departments. This experience offers a firsthand look at what it’s really like to work in the field. To provide the best learning experience, placement spots are limited.

Volunteer Opportunities

For students passionate about veterinary medicine, Capital City also offers volunteer opportunities. Volunteers assist with daily hospital tasks and have the chance to shadow doctors and collaborate with our team. This immersive experience helps them gain insight into the profession while contributing to the hospital’s operations. As with our co-op placements, space is limited to ensure a meaningful experience for each volunteer.

Our Commitment to Education

Education is one of Capital City’s core values, and we believe in sharing our knowledge and experience with the next generation of veterinary professionals.

To ensure a great fit for both the student and our hospital, all applicants undergo an interview and hospital tour before placement. For questions or inquires, please contact our Training and Development Director, Liisa Okoh here.
