Dr. Graham Thatcher is from the greater Toronto area. He graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 2005. After obtaining his DVM, he worked at Bayview Animal Hospital and Alta Vista Animal Hospital and later became a partner at both hospitals. He then completed a 3-year residency in veterinary dentistry at Alta Vista Animal Hospital. Dr. Thatcher obtained board certification from the American Veterinary Dental College in 2018. He then completed his fellowship training program in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Wisconsin.

Dr. Thatcher strongly believes in teaching and giving back to the veterinary community through mentoring and research. As one of only ten board-certified veterinary dentists in Canada and in his role as an Assistant Professor in Dentistry and Oral Surgery at the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Thatcher has mentored numerous veterinary students and several dentistry residents from across Canada and the USA. At the University of Wisconsin, his areas of research included the application of 3-D printing in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery, novel approaches to the orbitozygomaticomaxillary Region, and the development of novel fracture fixation methodologies, including regenerative bone therapies. Dr. Thatcher is a reviewer for the Journal of Veterinary Dentistry and Frontiers in Veterinary Science and is the associate editor for dentistry and oral surgery for the British Veterinary Medical Journal, Case Report. He has authored and co-authored several papers and textbook chapters and played an integral role in developing the 3-D printing laboratory at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Thatcher is most excited about being an integral part of developing a new referral and emergency center in his hometown of Ottawa. At Capital City Specialty & Emergency Hospital, Dr. Thatcher is dedicated to bringing his expertise to the National Capital Region. As the only board-certified dentist in eastern Ontario and western Quebec and the only dentist in Canada who is also a Fellow of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Thatcher will continue to practice exemplary medicine and foster relationships in the referring veterinary community to facilitate a higher level of dental care for dogs and cats. Additionally, he will continue mentoring new veterinary dentists, technicians, and future Fellows of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Thatcher lives in the Outaouais Region with his supportive wife, two dogs, two cats, and a horse in the family home. He enjoys exploring nature and finding adventures while hiking, canoeing, camping, and skiing.
